HACKS AN ANGLE INTO IT

Here hangs the hole in
a rope and from the floor
a good ten feet fixed
some spool you unravel in
a neck but change
your mind and line
the bathtub with plastic to keep clean
the floor is fixed
to catch toes on the tile
craning feet where it is customary
to have a child strung up.

drags a dead horse down
dangles from your doorframe and hacks an angle into it
dim light from fallen fruit, strung up in the places you stood
still life for a life you left, but still
dim light cuts the blades back, girdles spine with shadow

This is the room
you would not
be caught in.
